Ron Paul endorses Paul Broun

by NICK COLTRAIN,  |  published on April 26, 2013

Former presidential candidate, retired congressman and libertarian champion Ron Paul has endorsed Rep. Paul Broun, R-Athens, in his run for U.S. Senate, Broun’s spokeswoman said in an email.

Broun has boasted in the past of having a voting record akin to Paul’s, and his website similarly states he voted against federal bailouts for banks and any tax increases, while authoring one of the so-called balanced budget amendments to the U.S. Constitution.

Broun is seeking to replace retiring U.S. Sen. Saxby Chambliss. With the primary election still being more than a year out, Broun is the most prominent figure on the campaign trail. He has made federal spending, which he contends is out of control, a central part of his campaign.
