Michael Bloomberg focuses on climate change, gun control in his first visit to Iowa

He started the morning in Cedar Rapids with a series of events focused on solar and renewable energy before traveling to Ankeny, where he met with students in the wind technology program at Des Moines Area Community College.

In the evening, he met with the group Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, which he has spent millions to help fund, at the Iowa Taproom in downtown Des Moines. There, he thanked the group of activists for their work and urged them to continue lobbying their elected officials.

“They care about whether or not they get re-elected,” Bloomberg said. “And you’ve got to convince them that if they don’t vote to stop this craziness with guns, that you’re not going to have them around — you’re going to fire them.”
