Gun Rights Supporters Openly Carrying Counter Protest Moms Demand Action Rally

Moms Demand Action, a group participating in the “National Day to Demand Action,” staged a protest out in front of the Indianapolis Capitol this Thursday calling for an assault weapons ban and end to gun violence.

“Whether the gun violence happens in urban Chicago, suburban Virginia, or rural Texas, we must act now on new and stronger gun laws to protect our children,” Shannon Watts, founder of Moms Demand Action, said in a statement. “The conversation about gun violence in America has been controlled for too long by those who stand to profit from easy access to guns.

In the meantime, American families continue to be destroyed by gun violence. Mothers have had enough, and we will no longer stand by and let Congress turn its back on sensible gun laws”

During their rally the group was met with a counter protest of gun rights supporters openly carrying side arms and sporting rifles. The counter protesters engaged in peaceful discussions with the ‘Moms’ but their presence was felt at the demonstration.

A member of Moms Demand Action said that she felt unsettled by their presence and said that organizers would have to think twice before holding another event, particularly one where children could be present.
